About Us

About Us

We can trace the ancestry of the present firm back to 1730.  Today, we mix innovative thinking with traditional prudence and reliability. As a result, you will find we provide practical commercial solutions to the legal problems you face so that together we can form a winning team.
We have a team of over 30 Staffordshire solicitors and support staff at your disposal.  All staff specialise in particular legal areas and each head of department has many years of experience.  We can work with you on a one to one basis or provide an experienced team to work on your case.

We all enjoy practising in Staffordshire and there is a low turnover of staff at the firm. This allows us to build long term relationships with our clients. Many clients have been with us since they were young adults.

In 2005 we celebrated our 275th anniversary, and organised a charity balloon race to support two of Stafford’s leading charities. 275 balloons were sold and launched from Stafford Market Square on 29 June, raising £883, all of which was shared equally between Stafford District Voluntary Services and Katharine House Hospice.

As a firm we are committed to providing a high quality service, and employ a dedicated Practice Manager, Kayleigh Stokes.

Client Care

At Hand Morgan & Owen we aim to provide the highest standards of service to our clients with help of solicitors in Stafford and Rugeley. Dealing effectively with complaints is part of that service.  If you believe our service has fallen below these standards we want you to raise the matter with a responsible person so that it can be thoroughly investigated and any necessary action taken to resolve the matter to your satisfaction.

We employ a dedicated Practice Manager, Kayleigh Stokes, who is a qualified Solicitor and has been in her current role for seventeen years dealing with all issues of client and quality assurance.

Complaints

We are committed to providing high-quality legal advice and client care.  If you are unhappy about any aspect of the service you receive please contact your Solicitor or Legal Executive.  If he or she is unable to resolve your issue, please contact our Quality Manager, Kayleigh Stokes.  We have a written procedure that sets out how we handle complaints.  It is available here.

Equality and Diversity

Hand Morgan & Owen is committed to eliminating discrimination and encouraging diversity amongst our workforce.

Our aim is that our workforce will be truly representative of all sections of society and each employee feels respected and able to give of their best.

To that end the purpose of this policy is to provide equality and fairness for all in our employment and not to discriminate on grounds of gender, marital status, race, ethnic origin, colour, nationality, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, religion or age.

We oppose all forms of unlawful and unfair discrimination. All employees, whether part-time, full-time or temporary, will be treated fairly and with respect.

Selection for employment, promotion, training or any other benefit will be on the basis of aptitude and ability.

All employees will be helped and encouraged to develop their full potential and the talents and resources of the workforce will be fully utilised to maximise the efficiency of the organisation. Our commitment:

  • To create an environment in which individual differences and the contributions of all our staff are recognised and valued.
  • Every employee is entitled to a working environment that promotes dignity and respect to all. No form of intimidation, bullying or harassment will be tolerated.
  • Training, development and progression opportunities are available to all staff.
  • Equality in the workplace is good management practice and makes sound business sense.
  • We will review all our employment practices and procedures to ensure fairness.
  • Breaches of our equality policy will be regarded as misconduct and could lead to disciplinary proceedings.
  • This policy is fully supported by senior management and has been agreed with trade unions and/or employee representatives.
  • The policy will be monitored and reviewed annually.

We have recently carried out an equality and diversity survey of our employees and from the anonymous data that has been provided by them (employees are free to decline to complete the survey or to choose “I prefer not to say”) we have been able to conclude that they fall into the various protected characteristic types as defined by the Equality Act 2010 (sex, age, race, religion, sexual orientation, disability etc).

Due to the risk of employees being identified through their anonymous data and reference to their staff profiles on our website we are unable to publish more specific details without breaching the Data Protection Act 2018.
