About Us

We can trace the ancestry of the present firm back to 1730.  Today, we mix innovative thinking with traditional prudence and reliability. As a result, you will find we provide practical commercial solutions to the legal problems you face so that together we can form a winning team.

We have a team of 31 Staffordshire solicitors and support staff at your disposal.  All staff specialise in particular legal areas and each head of department has many years of experience.  We can work with you on a one to one basis or provide an experienced team to work on your case.

We all enjoy practising in Staffordshire and there is a low turnover of staff at the firm. This allows us to build long term relationships with our clients. Many clients have been with us since they were young adults.

In 2005 we celebrated our 275th anniversary, and organised a charity balloon race to support two of Stafford’s leading charities. 275 balloons were sold and launched from Stafford Market Square on 29 June, raising £883, all of which was shared equally between Stafford District Voluntary Services and Katharine House Hospice.

Commitment to quality

As a firm we are commited to providing a high quality service, and employ a dedicated quality manager, Jennifer Woodyard.

We are proud of our long-serving team which enables us to provide clients with continuity and  longstanding client relationships, and we regularly invest in high standards of training for all.

Client Care

At Hand Morgan & Owen we aim to provide the highest standards of service to our clients with help of solicitors in Stafford and Rugeley. Dealing effectively with complaints is part of that service.  If you believe our service has fallen below these standards we want you to raise the matter with a responsible person so that it can be thoroughly investigated and any necessary action taken to resolve the matter to your satisfaction.

We employ a dedicated Quality Manager, Jennifer Woodyard, who is a qualified Solicitor and has been in her current role for six years dealing with all issues of client and quality assurance.

In the first instance please raise any problems that arise with the person responsible for the day-to-day conduct of the matter.  If you are not a client and do not know the identity of that person, ask to speak to the Quality Manager, who will be able to find out.  Please discuss the matter on the telephone or, if you prefer, at a meeting.  We will note your concerns carefully and record any agreed action.  There is no need for you to put your complaint in writing, but if you prefer to do so this can be helpful in identifying the issues involved.

We will do all we can to resolve the matter to your satisfaction, but if we fail to do so, you will be advised to contact the Senior Partner who will either oversee an investigation and further response to you from the Quality Manager, or if the Quality Manager has already been involved will investigate and respond personally.

Most complaints will be resolved within these procedures, but if you remain unsatisfied you will be advised to confirm this in writing and we will advise you of the further steps which can be taken.

At each stage we will do our best to investigate the problem thoroughly and ensure that any necessary remedial action is taken as quickly as possible, keeping you informed throughout of the progress and result of our investigation and the action being taken.

We will record in writing the nature of the problem, our investigation of it and the remedial action taken.  We will not unless there is good reason disclose to you any steps which we may take relating to individual members of staff.  You may also wish to make your own written record of events and may be asked to confirm in writing if the problem has been satisfactorily resolved.

If after we have done everything we can to resolve the matters ourselves, you are still not satisfied, or at any stage if you prefer please contact:
