National minimum wage increases

The National Minimum Wage Regulations 1999 (Amendment) Regulations 2008 raised the levels of the national minimum wage with effect from the 1 October 2008.

The rates are as follows :

• For those under 18 the rate rises from £3.40 to £3.53
• For those between 18 and 21 the rate rises from £4.60 to £4.77
• For those 21 and over the rate rises from £5.52 to £5.73
