HIPs on Hold

Plans to introduce Home Information Packs (HIPs) in June have been put on hold and will now be implemented on a phased basis from 1 August.

From August HIPs, including the Energy Performance Certificate, will be required for the sale of four-bedroom properties and larger, with smaller properties being phased in as soon as sufficient energy assessors are fully qualified.

Until the end of this year, properties can be marketed as soon as a pack is commissioned, and as a temporary measure Energy Performance Certificates can be up to 12 months old when a property is put up for sale.

“We were all geared up for preparing the packs, so it has little impact upon us. But, this will be good news for many people thinking of selling their homes this year,” comments Elena Round, Head of residential property conveyancing at Hand Morgan & Owen Solicitors.
